Privacy Policy
Effective date: May 11, 2026
1. Overview
OrientalAnswers (“we”, “our”, or “us”) provides an AI-powered question-and-answer service grounded in Oriental Orthodox and pre-Chalcedon Alexandrian sources. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights with respect to that information.
2. Information We Collect
- Questions you submit — the text of questions you type into the chat interface. These are sent to our AI provider (OpenAI) to generate answers.
- Account information — if you create an account, we store your name and email address.
- Usage data — standard server logs including IP address, browser type, and pages visited, retained for up to 30 days.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To generate AI responses to your theological questions.
- To maintain your account and session history (if signed in).
- To improve the reliability and accuracy of the service.
- We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
4. Third-Party Services
Your questions are processed by OpenAI, whose privacy policy governs that processing. We do not share identifying account information with OpenAI.
5. Data Retention
Chat history is stored only in your browser session and is not persisted to our servers unless you are signed in and have opted in to history saving. You may delete your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.
6. Cookies
We use only essential session cookies required for authentication. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. To exercise these rights, contact us at the address below.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy periodically. The effective date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
